About the Race

The Mud Blast is a 3-4 mile mud run that takes place along the San Joaquin River, where it meets the Tuolumne. The course wind around forests and fields where racers will tackle obstacles along the way, including:

    • Mud pits
    • Tunnel crawl
    • Haybale climbs
    • Sand traps
    • Water crossings
    • Tire fields
    • and more

The Mud Blast is for everyone, serious to silly.

Have fun by the river and get outdoors!

Runners and Teams

For each race, the largest three teams will have the first three start times at at the event!

Runners race individually or in teams of 3 or more

Waves of 5-1000 participants will start every 7 minutes.

Costumes are welcome.

Race Day Schedule

    • 7:00 am - Late packet pick up and race day registration, if space.
    • 9:00 am - Gun time. Racers released in groups of 50-100, every 7 minutes.
    • It the participants' responsibility to be at the designated start location at least 15 minutes before their wave start time.
    • 11:30 am - Mini Mud Blast.
    • Noon - Awards and Prizes

About the Mini Mud Blast

The kids’ fun loop is about 3/4 of a mile. Start time is 11:30 am. Kids will be given raffle tickets at the end of the race, and prizes will be drawn for super soakers and other fun stuff during the awards ceremony.

Rules and Start

      • 7:00 am. Late Packet Pick-up. Late registration, if space.
      • 8:45 am.  Final race instructions; mandatory meeting
      • 9 am start time. Runners will start in waves. Every participant must complete a registration form and sign the "Rules and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms.
      • Participants under 18 at the date of registration must have a parent or guardian sign "Rule and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms.
      • The course and all obstacles must be completed to qualify for prizes.
      • Teams are 3 or more participants. All team members must cross the finish line for the team to qualify for prizes.
      • Team champions determined by race times of fastest three team members. For example, 5-person team is judged on top three times.
      • Minors 10 and older at the time of the race may participate in the main Mud Blast if they have submitted the "Rule and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms signed by parent or guardian.
      • Parent/guardian must accompany all minors to the Mud Blast.
      • Children 5-12 may participate in the Mini Mud Blast fun run. Parents must be present at the Mini Mud Blast course and fun run event.
      • Only registered participants are allowed on course obstacles or in the mud pits.
      • No dogs at the event.
      • No baby strollers or baby joggers on the course. Baby strollers are welcomed at spectator areas.
      • Waves of 50-100 start every 7 minutes from 9:00AM.
      • It the participants' responsibility to be at the designated start location at least 15 minutes before their wave start time.
      • Early and regular registrations are guaranteed a Mud Blast t-shirt (until October 6)
      • Late registrations (after October 6) will not be guaranteed a t-shirt. T-shirts will be subject to availability.

Timing: Chip technology

Timing chip will be picked up with registration packet. This year we are using disposable chips that will be attached to your bib.

Goodies and Prizes

    • Lunch included with every registration. Your lunch ticket is your bib’s  tear-off tag.
    • Registrants will receive a race tee-shirt if they register under early and regular registration, by October. Late period registrations will receive race tee shirts on first come, first serve basis (after October 6).
    • Prizes will be awarded to each division champion and for best costume.
    • The largest three teams will have the first three start times at the event.
    • Team champions are determined by race times of fastest three team members. For example, 5-person team is judged on results of the fastest three members.

Entertainment and Food

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the post-race Celebration on the Ranch.  There will be lunch, beer, soft drinks, and water available for purchase (if you are a racer, lunch is included with your registration).

Bring your ID and cash, because Sierra Nevada’s Fine Ales and Beer will be on tap!

Costume Contest - Dress Up and have fun!

Clothing is required – from technical tees and padded shorts, to fairy wings and superman tights. It's your choice. Feel free to express yourself and embrace the mud! Just please cover all your private parts.

The race organizers will narrow the contestants down to 10. The final 10 will be brought on stage and the costume that generates the loudest crowd response will win.
