River Partners hopes the Mud Blast event will connect community to California’s largest watershed
For years, River Partners had envisioned holding an event that would shed a positive light on recreating on the Sacramento River. In 2011, River Partners acquired a conservation property that enabled the organization to put this plan into action. The Mud Blast is designed to connect outdoor lovers and athletes from the entire region to the Sacramento River. It’s an event that celebrates health and fitness, responsible recreation, and riverland conservation in one package.
River Partners’ 150 acre site is called Willow Bend, has a beautiful beach, natural riparian woodlands, and open native grass fields that are slated for reforestoration.Located between Butte City and Colusa, it is the perfect venue to invite the public to experience life in the riparian zone by the river. The beach is big enough to host 1,200 people without harming the woodland area. And the fields that will eventually be replanted with trees and shrubs, in the meantime can easily house the large mud pits – the star features of the Mud Blast.
